dont think people
are born artists;
I think it comes from a mixture of your
surroundings, the people you meet, and luck.
It is not hereditary, thank goodness.
have been lucky
enough to be able to live
on my obsession. This is my only success.
like to work.
that I get from working makes me a better
person, which makes me a better mom.
because I have the luxury of working only
one or two days a week.
remember the casting session that I had
where I was a break dancer, having this
punk hair cut. They rejected me and I became
really disillusioned with the business
and said well this is what it's all about,
and I haven't even got in to read a line.
He said don't worry,
some day we're going to get you back into
this and it's going to happen for you, which
I kind of took to heart. It was one of those
situations where I was lucky
and fortunate enough to be at the right
places at the right
time. All of a sudden I was on the set
of Growing Pains and got this audition for
This Boy's Life and was able to jump into
the feature film
world. It's really been just simply the
fact that I'd been able to work,
you know what I mean? I would probably still
be trying to be an actor
even if I was out of work, but I would probably
become a little disillusioned at some point
and move on to other things. But it's the
one thing that I know that I love.
am very lucky

in some of my stuff.
enough, I think, in the backward way that
a lot of films
that I did weren't particularly successful
early so I didn't get pigeonholed into having
to do one particular thing. I've sort of
been given a little free reign to try a
bunch of different
things and have them all fail
at once, so this has been a fun one. Look,
I'll do anything those guys
see, every person looks for opportunities.
If he is a little bit lucky,
he finds the opportunities. If he is less
lucky, but is ready to break the law,
then he finds other opportunities.
two things you should know
about me. One, I'm a gambler
and usually very lucky
and two, I don't die
if you're not doing what you love,
you're not going to be fulfilled. Sure,
to make money,
you have to be tough,
you have to have some smarts
and a little luck
but the bottom line is: You have to love
what you do.
came to watch my friends. I was sitting
there in the crowd when the agent from Perth
came over. I didn't even want to enter,
it was a bit of chance. I was so shocked
when I got my first job.
