just like to enjoy
and push myself.
Of course, there is method to my madness.
When you are entering into a new industry,
for example, it helps
to do something to get your name on the
thing with a child is that you love
them, you protect them and you help
them to grow and find out who they are.
And as a parent,
it's my responsibility
to help them to become independent and get
all the knowledge
and a broad view of the world
I know that Nic
absolutely agrees with that. And that's
what's important: being there.
just want to help
I'm a helper. For instance, I myself have
helped hundreds of people get off drugs.
In Scientology, we have the only successful
drug rehabilitation program in the world.
It's called Narconon.
always kind of made sure to maintain the
sense of who I am and never be mean or cruel
or snotty to anyone. Because, at the end
of the day, it's not going to help
you last in the business,
and who wants to be around someone like
that? I don't want to turn into that
a lot. I found the fame
thing really was a torment for a while.
Then you learn
thought I'd become a funeral director when
I wasn't going to be an actor..
I would be good
with the grieving process and with trying
to get them to talk about and understand
who this person was.
mean, everyone has to calm down sometime.
Ill still smoke
up and party, but yeah, eventually you
gotta settle down and be an adult. But still
me sort of like, understand
that down the road itll just happen.
think everyone is a little egocentric, but
when I help
someone I lose
0.01% of my ego.
in love with football, but I just needed
to recapture that strength to train and
play. So many people helped me along the
way that I'm afraid to leave anyone out.
Above all, though, I want to mention the
help of my medical team that has been working
alongside me for the past two years.
I hope to maintain my credibility after
I stop playing. Because, yes of course,
now I play and I score goals and children
all over are mad about me. Not just poor
children - all children. We can make them
really happy by the way we play, though
I have to say that it's the poor ones that
I think of most, the ones who can't come
and watch the games at the stadium. We mean
so much to them. That's why I'm so committed
to this work. Later, after you've stopped
playing, it's harder to have the same impact.
But I will give it a go. I want to continue
doing this kind of work for ever.
if you're not doing what you love,
you're not going to be fulfilled. Sure,
to make money,
you have to be tough,
you have to have some smarts
and a little luck
but the bottom line is: You have to love
what you do.
its all said and done I would like
to look back and think
that I help
to make modelling
a possibility for a greater number of people.
I dont do things that I will regret
in the future.
I tend to err on the side of caution. Not
to mention the fact that the present world
I reside in would not have been possible
without my past. I am most proud of being
able to represent my family
and community with honour and dignity.
are raised as though they are one. Although
I am from the Dinka tribe, my parents
didnt raise us as the Dinka tribe.
They raised us as the Wek family, in the
way they believed
should grow up. So when you leave, the first
thing you think
is the ones you left behind. Its natural
them in any way you can. I found a way to
rather than asking my Mum
to give me money.
I would work
and send money back to pay for their rent
