Margaret Thatcher's full name is Margaret Hilda
Thatcher (Baroness Thatcher) and she was born
on 13 October 1925 in Grantham, England and
is a famous British politician. Thatcher was
the Prime Minister from May 4, 1979 to November
28, 1990, where her political party was Conservative.
She has got husband Denis Thatcher (a businessman)
and the couple has got twin children Mark and
Carol.
Margaret Thatcher studied chemistry and was
involved in chemistry experiments in British
Xylonite and J. Lyons and Co in 40's, but in
the year 1950 she became involved into politics
and participated in elections as the youngest
woman Conservative candidate.
Thatcher
has been the Secretary of State for Education
and Science (1970-1974) and was the leader of
the opposition. Thatcher achieved a great popularity
by her speech on January 19, 1976, where she
criticized the Soviet Union and made good relationships
with the American president Ronald Reagan.
Being
a Prime Minister in the period of 1979 to 1983
Margaret Thatcher focused her attention to economic
and taxes, as well as on unemployment problem
in the country. Further from 1983 to 1987 Thatcher
emphasized the freemarket economy and her politics
was named "Thatcherism". This was
a serious period for UK as regards to the Cuban
missile crisis. Her last period of being Prime
minister was 1987-1990, when she got focuss
on the European Community (the European Union)
issues and was against the Economic and Monetary
Union.
After
her political career Thatcher was working as
a consultant and kept still involved in chemistry
science.
Margaret
Thatcher has got few honors, for example, Lady
of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Fellow
of the Royal Society, Privy Councillor, Order
of Merit.
