Jacques Chirac was born on the 29th of November 1932 in France and has been the President of France since the year 2002. He has got two daughters Claude and Laurence, the adopted son Anh Dao Traxel and is married to Bernadette Chodron de Courcel.

In the 60's Jacques Chirac started his political activities and during this period of time he held several ministerial positions and eventually went on to become the mayor of Paris. Chirac was educated in the military and became an officer, but was more involved with the civil service side of things.

The year 1967 was an important time for Jacques Chirac, as he became the Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of Finance. Between the years 1968 and 1971 he was the Minister of Agriculture and Rural development. Later he was appointed as the Minister of the Interior (1974) and became the Prime minister of France between 1974-1976.

The 70's was important for his career as politician, as Jacques Chirac was elected mayor of Paris (1977), which he continued up until the year 1995. During this time Chirac increased his influence in politics and gained a deeper knowledge and more political experience. During this time he was also a candidate for president several times.

Jacques Chirac first became the President of France in 1995. He has held this president for more than 10 years. During his time as president, Chirac has implemented several successful policies focused on economic development, reducing unemployment and the politics in the Middle East, Iraq and bilateral relationships with the USA.

The third mandate for Jacques Chirac's Presidency is in 2007, however he has not expressed any plans to run a third term.
