The famous American R&B
and hip-hop musician Nelly was born as Cornell
Haynes Jr. on November 2, 1974 in Texas.
At
a very young age Nelly lived in Spain, but moved
to the U.S. and continued to move house several
more times. In his teenage years Nelly created
a music band the St. Lunatics, which had gained
a local recognition and popularity.
Nelly
has created much interest in his work with hit
songs like "Hot in Herre", "Dilemma",
"Over and Over" and many others. Nelly
has also worked in collaboration with other
popular musicians like Jagged Edge, NSYNC, Fat
Joe, and Mariah Carey.
The
popular R&B
and hip hop artist has won several awards
including "Best New Artist" at the
1st Annual BET Awards in 2001, Best Rap Video
of 2001 at the MTV Video Music Awards, named
Breakthrough Stars of 2001 by People Magazine,
won the 2002 American Music Award for "Favorite
Rap/Hip-Hop Artist", and won 6 Billboard
Music Awards in 2002.
Nelly has also composed music to several movies
including Scary Movie 2 (2001) and Bad Boys
II (2003).
Nelly
has two children: Cornell III Tre born in 1999
and Chanel born in 1994. Nelly had sister Jacqueline,
but she died in the year 2005 from leukemia.
