Madonna was born to Michelina and Gaetano Ciccone
as Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958
in Bay City, Michigan and was raised in Detroit
suburbs of Pontiac. She started her music career
in the 80's and from that time she has released
quite a number of music albums, which have sold
over 200 million worldwide, and has released
many number 1 singles.
At
the age of 5 Madonna lost her mother, who died
of breast cancer, and she remained with her
6 other siblings. This incident had a great
impact on the young Madonna, as she started
ballet and piano classes.
The year 1983 was a major turning point for
Madonna, as she released her debut album called
"Madonna". The album was followed
by many others during 80's and 90's. A major
influence on her music style and performances
were coming from Italy, as her ethnic background
is Italian American. She also has a French connection
with her mother.
Madonna
has also been involved with movies, with many
of her songs featuring in such movies as Walk
Like a Man (1987), Nothing But Trouble (1991),
The Real Blonde (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy
Who Shagged Me (1999), Die Another Day (2002),
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004). As
an actress in 80's she also appeared in several
low budget movies (A Certain Sacrifice (1985)
and Vision Quest (1985)), but in 90's she appeared
in more successful films.
Madonna
was married to Sean Penn from 16 August 1985
to 14 September 1989. Since the 22nd of December
2000 she has been married to Guy Ritchie. Madonna
has a daughter Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon (born
in 1996) and a son Rocco John Ritchie (born
in 2000).
Madonna
is deeply involved in Kabbalah
studies and in the year 2001 she published her
first children's book, which is called "The
English Roses".
