The famous American R&B musician Brandy
was born as Brandy Rayana Norwood on February
11, 1979 in McComb, Mississippi. She was raised
in Carson, California and is the daughter of
Sonja Bates and Willie Ray Norwood.
Brandy
started her career as a musician in her childhood,
when she a great fan of Whitney
Houston at the age of four years old. Brandy
went to California and started singing and at
the age of 11 she was found by a record producer,
joining two music bands as a backup singer ("Immature"
and "Norment").
Brandy
then started working on her own solo career
during the 1990s and released her first music
album called "Brandy" which had several
radio hits such as Best Friend, Baby, I Wanna
Be Down.
The
second album "Never Say Never" came
out in 1998 and gave Brandy much more recognition
as an R&B performer. The hit single "The
Boy Is Mine" sold over 2 million copies
worldwide.
Her
filmography includes Cinderella (1997), I Still
Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) and Double
Platinum (1999).
Brandy has been involved with the UNICEF organization
(The
United Nations Children's Fund), highlighting
child injustice around the world.
Brandy
was married to Robert Smith (July 2001 - 30
June 2003) and in July 2004 announced the engagement
to Quentin Richardson, who is an NBA basketball
player.
