The host of the famous "The Tyra Banks Show" and black female supermodel Tyra Banks (Tyra Lynne Banks) was born on December 4, 1973 in Los Angeles, California and is of African heritage.

Tyra began her modeling career when she was 17 by getting the first model job in "Elite Model Management". After that Tyra confronted rejections few times as not being signed by many model agencies. The great model career for Tyra Banks started in middle 90's and in 1997 she became one ot the Victoria's Secret Angels working alongside with such supermodels as Isabeli Fontana, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen and Adriana Lima.

Tyra appeared on a quite a number of world famous fashion shows, e.g., Yves Saint-Laurent, Anna Sui, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and magazine covers (ELLE,Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Sports Illustrated). Tyra Banks has been modeling since 90's and in the year 2005 she retired. The final show was the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Her filmography includes A Woman Like That (1997), Love Stinks (1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and other movies. In the movie "Life-Size" Banks co-actress was Lindsay Lohan. One of her latest big budget projects are the model contest show named "America's Next Top Model" (started 2003) and The Tyra Banks Show (started 2005).

Additional to her model and tv show career Tyra Banks has recorded debut album with the only single "Shake Ya Body", which was not globally famous.
