Marat Safin is a famous tennis player from Russia. He was born on January 27, 1980 in Moscow and was trained in tennis since the early age. Safin entered professional tennis in the year 1997 but a great achievement was the win in US Open (2000) and Australian Open (2005).

Marat Safin's parents were both former tennis players. Also his sister Dinara Safina is a tennis player.

In 1994 Safin moved to Spain (to Valencia) to be trained by professional coaches because professional tennis in that period was not developed. In 2000 Safin was No.1 tennis player for 9 weeks and has defeated such great players as Roger Federer and Lleyton Hewitt.

In 2002 with the help of SAfin Russian team won the Davis Cup which was first in Russia's history. Safin's partners were Mikhail Youzhny, Andrei Stoliarov, Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Shamil Tarpischev (team captain).

In 2005 Safin got knee injury and stopped playing tennis and participating in tournaments. Safin is a famous male model for fashion magazines and advertisement shots.
