Pablo
Picasso Bio..
Pablo Picasso was born on the 25th of October
1881 as Pablo (or El Pablito) Diego José
Santiago Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno
Crispín Crispiniano de los Remedios Cipriano
de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz Blasco
y Picasso López in Málaga, Spain.
Picasso's father (Don José Ruiz Blasco)
taught as a drawing teacher in a local school
of fine arts.
Pablo Picasso was a precocious talent from an
early age. His father once declared that his
child was so talented that he would never paint
again, after giving his son his brushes and
palette.
Picasso's first major series of paintings was
his Blue Period of works, from around 1901.
The blue period paintings by Picasso were of
mostly somber scenes, depicting poverty and
sadness in all blue tones. He then lightened
his palette by moving to his Rose period of
paintings which lasted through to around 1906.
The personal life of the artist was often turbulent
and passionate. He had many lovers and was married
twice. Picasso had 4 children to three different
mothers.
Along with fellow art Georges Braque, Picasso
created the Cubist style of painting which he
painted from around 1907 through to 1917. The
artists were deconstructing the form of objects
and painting it from all angles on one flat
surface.
Picasso had a very prolific and successful career
as an artist. He is arguably one of the most
famous and influential artists of the 20th century.
His works continue to increase dramatically
in value with collectors prepared to pay many
millions of dollars at auction houses. In 2005
his "Boy with a pipe" work painting
in 1905 fetched $104USD at Sotheby's auction
in New York.
