Rothko Bio..
Mark Rothko was born as Marcus Rothkowitz on
September 25, 1903 in Latvia and died at the
age of 63 on February 1970 in the United States.
Mark Rothko is a Jewish expressionist, who had
emigrated to the USA (Portland, Oregon) in the
year 1913.
Ten
years later he moved the house to New York City,
but just in 40's he started doing paintings
in an abstract style by using symbols and indirect
meanings. One of his famous works is "Homage
to Matisse". His main influence came for
Surrealist movement in Europe and due to that
he became one of the leaders of the movement
of abstract expressionism.
One
of his major contribution was the establishing
of the New York School. He had collaborated
with few artists on different projects (for
example, constructing the church in Texas, do
series paintings).
Mark
Rothko died in 1970 by committing suicide in
his art studio studio, New York City.
