Cruz Bio..
Penélope Cruz was born on April 28, 1974
in Madrid, Spain and has achieved great international
recognition as an actress. During her younger
years she attended ballet classes in Madrid,
did four years of dance studies in New York,
and also studied jazz dance.
Her
parents are mother Encarna (a hairdresser) and
father Eduardo (a merchant). She also has a
brother Eduardo.
Penelope
Cruz debuted in her first movie in the year
1993, in the movie Laberinto griego, El.
The
year 2001 was significant for her as she starred
in the famous movie "Vanilla Sky"
with Tom Cruise. Penelope Cruz and Tom Cruise
became romantically involved during the filming
of the Vanilla Sky movie, which lasted until
the beginning of 2004.
Penélope
Cruz has been recognized for her acting career,
being nominated and awarded with a large number
of film and entertainment awards. Including
a ALMA Awards nomination in 2002 as Outstanding
Actress in a Motion Picture for: Vanilla Sky,
in 2001 she was nominated for the Blockbuster
Entertainment Award as Favorite Actress in the
Drama/Romance category, All the Pretty Horses,
and won the David di Donatello Award in 2004
for Best Actress for Non ti muovere (2004).
Penélope
Cruz has been listed in the world's sexiest
women list in 2002 for Stuff magazine and Australian
Empire Magazine. She is also known for her contributions
to charitable organizations, volunteering and
joining several groups. For example in 1997
she volunteered in Uganda and she is also the
founder of the Sabera Foundation, which dealt
with homeless people and people suffering from
tuberculosis, but no longer exists.
