Katie Holmes was born December 18, 1978 as Katherine
Noelle "Katie" Holmes in Toledo, Ohio,
USA. Since the 17th of June, 2005 she has been
engaged to the famous Hollywood actor Tom Cruise,
which has gained her much popularity in the
Hollywood celebrity gossip columns.
Her
mother is Kathy is a homemaker and her father
Martin is a lawyer. Katie Holmes has an older
brother Martin Jr. and three sisters (Nancy,
Holly and Tamera).
Katie
started her acting career in Los Angeles. Her
first major breaks were "The Ice Storm"
(1997) and the popular TV series Dawson's Creek,
which was made in 1998 and ran through to 2003.
During her time at Dawson's Creek she also did
two other movies "Disturbing Behavior"
(1998) and "Go" (1999) in supporting
actress roles.
The
first leading role came in 2002 in the movie
"Abandon". Her last notable role was
in the world-famous movie "Batman begins",
which was filmed in the year 2005.
Some
of her achievements include Babe of the Year
98 (Sweden), 21 Hottest Stars Under 21 (1999),
102 Sexiest Women in the World by Stuff Magazine
(2002) and several others.
